The Chair Factory
Then there were the nailers, one where the new Credit Union stands now, Thomas Lynn. He died on 3rd April 1911. His brother, Bill, lived at the new road, also a nailer and Thomas Cox on the Ash Walk. When machine-made nails came on the market that finished the nailers.

The Ardee Chair Factory was founded in 1923 by J Thorne. It employed many people from the area over its years in production and manufactured fine furniture. It laid the base for several wood and carpentry based industries and workshops which still provide employment in the area. It finally closed in1974. Some of the chairs produced at the factory are shown.
